Merlin was the only blue merle from his litter and what a surprising colour. I had expected dark blue
from Max but somehow we got some nice light markings.
Merlin is co-owned with Doug and Christine who owned Max and now also own Gunnar. Boy do
they have their hands full with this guy. He is busting at the seams with character. Even though he
is obedience trained and he pays excellent attention when he is in working mode, when he's just
having fun he doesn't walk, he bounces, and pounces and leaps and tumbles. He is a very happy
and goofy boy who we hope never looses his comical character.

Merlin is Doug's companion as he drives truck.

Merlin will have all of his testing done over the summer, we will start with his eyes, then do his
MDR1, and then his hips/elbows. We will breed him to Vegas once his testing is complete.
Probably winter of 2011 for spring 2012 puppies.

Pictured above at 7 months old.
Below he is 2 years old.
Merlin is a very playful character who gets along well with others even when they are much smaller
than he is. Here you can see him playing tug of war with his good friend Abby who is a small
terrier. He is enthusiastic and yet gentle enough that she keeps coming back for more.
Merlin is also a water dog, he definitely gets that from his mom! I would expect that
his offspring will have a good chance at also loving the water.
If you want to talk about personality, this boy has enough to fill any
home. Below you'll see that he simply must be a part of everything you
do. He wants to be included in daily activities and has a very curious
nature, he likes to be able to see what's going on and offer his opinion.
He's like a curious 2 year old child in so many ways.
Here he is helping his mom in the kitchen.
And here you see him helping his dad in the shower. They
were careful to get family rated pictures for us but Merlin is
more than happy to help in all daily activities. Showering is
absolutely included in his many chores. Making sure you
don't miss a spot!
Believe it or not, he's not a bad dog at all. In fact he's top of his class in
obedience and is often used as a demo dog because his focus is incredible
when he's in working mode. There could be a party next to him and when he's
working he is 100% focused on his task at hand and it is almost impossible to
distract him. He really is an incredible working dog who's work ethic is top
notch. So we would certainly expect if your looking for a future training
companion, any offspring of Merlins should have a lot of potential.
The big guys does have quiet time. Please don't think
he's hyper and hard to live with. He likes to curl up on a
lawn chair, on a bed, or in a cool spot and just relax. You
can see him below with his buddy Gunnar, just chillin out
and relaxing waiting for the next adventure.
When possible, jump into bed with dad! Nothing better than company when your
trying to sleep!
Last but not least. Here is Merlin posing in the sand with his dad Max.
Max is the foundation to a lot of the mini aussies doing sports in
Ontario. We hope Merlin can pass on some of those incredible genes
for us in the near future.
Merlin is now well over two. We are going to work on his testing this summer of 2011. If all goes well we will have him up
for stud service this fall/winter and we will start to plan a few litters for him. We do not have a lot of solid coloured females
in our breeding program right now, so he will not be used a lot. He is red factored so he should produce red puppies with
all of our girls (all of them are red factored right now). He has a very small dad so we hope he throws puppies a bit smaller
than he is.
If you have any interest in Merlin as a stud dog, or for his future puppies, feel free to contact us.
